Camp Osprey was created to provide children aged 7 to 15 with a fun and safe summer camp environment. As long time Florida residents, both Gary and Sandy have come to love this area and are excited to welcome campers to enjoy the same local activities they have enjoyed with their own family.
My name is Sandy Bembry. I have been married to Gary Bembry for 36 years. We have 5 very active sons. I am a registered nurse, and have lived in this area since 1969. I worked as a nurse at Blake Hospital in Bradenton, FL with a background in Orthopedics, Neurology, and Cardiac. I began working for the School Board of Manatee County as a school nurse in 2010. I have experience in high school, middle school, elementary, and pre-k grade levels. I was on the Manatee County Concussion Team. I have also worked as a camp nurse for several summers, which ignited the desire to open a camp of my own.
Children are our future and my passion... I believe in the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child". Children need love, nurturing, structure, consistency, a safe and healthy environment blended with fun, adventure, friendships, and treasured memories. Providing those things for your children is my highest priority. I promise to care for them as if they were my own children.
We are Christians that believe in the power of prayer, and we often pray for every aspect of camp. Additionally, we hold a weekly, voluntary Bible study on-site. We welcome campers and counselors from all faith backgrounds, and will never force our beliefs on anyone; however our Christian faith is a driving force behind everything that we do, and we will not shy away from sharing that faith if we are asked.
I so look forward to meeting you and getting to know your children. It is my hope that you will rest easy knowing they are well cared for and happy.
